JPGA / WESTERN GOLF ASSOCIATION EVANS SCHOLARSHIP
JPGA in conjunction with the Western Golf Association Evans Scholarship Foundation (WGAESF) established the first caddy program at Jackson Park Golf Course and awarded two recipients the Evans Scholarship (Chicago Tribune, 1993).
The first recipients of the scholarships were two Hales Franciscan seniors awarded full tuition and housing scholarships for college.
In 2016, the WGA and Chicago Parks Golf Alliance (CPGA) partnered to reinstate the caddy program for 20 high school students.
The program proved successful for providing employment for juniors, teaching them fundamental values of golf, and building positive relationships between juniors and adults.
