WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO…

We all have a passion for golf and an interest in seeing more youth play the sport, advance their
skills, excel academically, and establish careers. Fortunately, golf is a means for youth/young
adults to accomplish those goals.

In addition to serving as the umbrella for leagues/clubs to have a voice in the proposed
restoration at Jackson Park/South Shore, our mission for youth is to provide families with the
resources and wherewithal for college scholarships, tournament fees, and other areas to keep
children engaged in this sport we love.

Through partnerships and continued motivation to positively impact the lives of
youth, we trained 16 juniors in our caddy program in the spring of 2019; 23 juniors
to become caddies in 2023; partnered with Cousins Empowered Optimist (CEO) Superheroe  to offer coding classes as part of our STEAM (Science,Technology,Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) initiative

On August 8, 2020, we awarded two Jackson Park caddies, Raquel Simpson and Mathis Wint,
scholarships!. At the same time, our motivation to advance the
goals of young adults who want to play golf professionally was achieved when we awarded a
scholarship to DeVaughn Mathus. He played in the Advocates APGA Tournament at TPC Deere
Run on August 16-17, 2020 in Silvis, IL.

In 2021, JPGA has expanded our philanthropy – thanks to supporters of our annual golf
invitational – to sponsor two young men to play in the Advocate Professional Golf Association
(APGA) Tour at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, IL! CONGRATULATIONS Mulbe Dillard of Florida A&M
University (FAMU) and DeVaughn Mathus!

Additionally, scholarships were awarded to two high school seniors because of their academic
acumen and service as caddies at Jackson Park Golf Course. CONGRATULATIONS Ethan Verner
(De La Salle Institute) and Kendall Dillon (Butler College Prep)!

In 2022, our largest group of scholarship recipients to-date included four high school graduates and one professional golfer! CONGRATULATIONS Winter Perkins, Ian Davis, Ahmad Raoul, and Tyler Thomas on your outstanding academic achievements and for the young men all playing golf in college!
